Sacramento River Canoe Trip

Sacramento River Canoe Trip

Sun, 6/18/17 to Sat, 6/24/17

Primary Activities: Canoeing, Day Hiking,

Nights: 4 wilderness, 2 Camp Augusta

The Sacramento River runs 400 miles across Northern California depositing water from Shasta to the Bay. As the snowmelt runs from the mountains to the sea the river passes through rock canyons, shaded lush banks, and calm creeks.

Traveling in between Redding and Chico the river provides ample opportunities for adventure. Over the course of the trip we will navigate hazards and rapids, look for spots to set up rope swings, swim and relax, and much more.

Campers will experience the opportunity to set up camp, cook their own food, lead the group down the river, learn to work in a team, and create their own adventures. This is a great trip for those new to the backcountry or those looking to get more acquainted with travel on the water. Campers will come away with new skills in personal safety, risk management, and backcountry travel.

Experience: Explore – This trip is designed for campers who have done some camping. Campers are welcome to join the trip with no prior canoeing experience.

Endurance: 1 – Our days will include at least three hours of paddling every day. When not in the boats we will be exploring the river banks, looking for rope swings, and eating blackberries.
